How to Write a Perfect Case Study in Any Discipline

A good case study is a paper that will, first of all, present a problem or a challenge for the reader. It shall contain enough information on the problem, but do not offer any solution to it – the readers will have to come up with it themselves. In this article we will walk you through the 4 stages of writing a case study in such a way that will get you the highest possible grade. Each stage will have substeps, that shall help you to understand what to do.

  1. Preparation.

This is the stage when you will decide how you will write the case study and what you shall include in it. Here are the step you shall follow:

    • Decide the appropriate type of case study, style of writing, purpose etc.
    • Determine the target audience of the case study.
    • Check if your case study problem is original and you will copy anyone else's work.

  2. Preparation of the interview.

The interview will be one of the most important part of your work on the case study and your main and the most valuable source of information, treat the preparation step seriously.

    • Make a possible list of participants or places where you will look for them.
    • Create an approximate list of questions.

  3. Gathering data.

If you completed the previous sections, have chosen a good topic and created correct interview, you won't have any problems with gathering enough data for your case study.

    • Carry out the interviews, according to the preparations made earlier.
    • Collect other data, available to explain the problem as widely as possible.
    • Organize the found material.

  4. Writing.

This is the most important step, the result of which will be your ready case study. The writing stage will not much differ from those of a common paper, but still pay attention to the steps:

    • Write a catching introduction.
    • Clearly state the problem you want the reader to solve
    • Prove the expediency of the interviews and value of the collected thoughts.
    • Provide all the data you have. Make sure the information is understandable.
    • Offer possible solutions for the problem, but do not state that one of them is correct.
    • Do not forget about the references and appendices (if you have any).
    • Revise grammar, punctuation and spelling.
    • Review the paper to make sure it flows smoothly and corresponds with the instructions.
    • Do not be afraid to change some parts of the paper if necessary.
